Linklaters advises Société Autoroutière du Gabon (SAG- Meridiam/Arise) on the financing of refurbishment works related to the "Transgabonaise" road PPP

Linklaters has advised Société Autoroutière du Gabon (SAG), a joint venture between Meridiam and Arise, on obtaining 65 billion CFA francs in financing from the Banque de Développement des Etats de l'Afrique Centrale (BDEAC) for the refurbishment works of a first section of the "Transgabonaise" road and an overall feasibility study.

This loan follows an initial financing of 40 billion CFA francs granted by the Banque Internationale pour le Commerce et l’Industrie du Gabon (BICIG). The refurbishment works and feasibility studies are carried out by SAG as part of a partnership contract with the Gabonese State.

This is the longest road in Gabon, crossing five of the country's nine provinces over a length of 780 kilometres. This first phase, corresponding to the refurbishment of the road over close to a hundred kilometres and feasibility studies on the road as a whole, is of crucial importance for the economic development of Gabon and the opening up of certain territories. 

Linklaters is advising SAG on the development of this landmark project, including the PPP contract signed in 2019 and the engineering and construction contracts.
