Peter has specialised experience in advising clients on national and international M&A transactions, restructurings and corporate law.
Work highlights
- BP: advising on numerous transactions, including
- the planned sale of refinery and pipeline stakes as well as on the planned purchase of a terminal,
- a Europe-wide cash pool project,
- the acquisition of Veba Oel and the subsequent reorganisation and integration of the Veba Oel Group and ARAL into Deutsche BP,
- the carve out and sale of over 900 service stations in Germany, Hungary and Slovakia as well as a refinery participation to OMV and Orlen,
- the restructuring and subsequent sale of its global olefins, derivatives and refining subsidiary Innovene to Ineos,
- the acquisition by Rosneft of PdVSA's share in its German refining joint venture ROG with BP.
- McKesson: advising on a number of projects and transactions, such as on the public takeover of Celesio.
- ACS, Actividades de Construcción y Servicios: advising on its public takeover of Hochtief.
- Citibank: advising on the carve-out and sale of its German retail banking business (now Targo Bank) to Crédit Mutuel.
- Dow Chemical: advising on several deals, including on the acquisition of Wolff Walsrode from Bayer AG.
- Hewlett-Packard: advising on the acquisition of the IT service provider Triaton from ThyssenKrupp.
- Eurochem: advising on the acquisition of BASF’s fertilizer business.
Professional experience
Peter worked as a banker until 1979 at Commerzbank. He joined the German predecessor firm Oppenhoff & Rädler in 1989 and was appointed Partner in 2001.
Education and qualifications
Peter studied law at the Universities of Erlangen and Frankfurt am Main.
He speaks German and English.
