Caio has more than 25 years of experience in complex civil litigation and commercial arbitration. Caio has successfully advised clients in cross-border disputes in various sectors, such as infrastructure, oil & gas, and financial services. Caio has deep experience with high stakes disputes in arbitration, mediation, and litigation, and matters involving antitrust, shareholders, and insolvency. His experience encompasses major institutional arbitration centres and rules (such as ICC, LCIA, AAA, ICDR, UNCITRAL), as well as regional arbitral institutions in Brazil and ad-hoc proceedings.

Caio has strong relationships with local firms and corporations in Brazil and has a keen understanding of the local market. Caio has previously worked in Linklaters’ São Paulo and London offices.

Over the past 28 years of experience, Caio has worked at major law firms, including Pinheiro Neto Advogados, Mayer Brown and Linklaters. In the past 10 years, Caio was the Founding Partner of a boutique law firm based in São Paulo.

Caio combines experience in both national and international law firms, large and small, which gave him a unique position as an international litigator with in-depth knowledge of the Brazilian legal market and national and multinational clients.

Education and qualifications

Caio graduated in law from the Catholic University of São Paulo (1999) and holds a Master's Degree in International Dispute Resolution from the University of London (2004).

He is among the list of arbitrators of the main arbitration chambers in Brazil, such as CAM-CCBC, CAM-AMCHAM, CAMARB and CBMA.

Caio is a member of the ICC Arbitration and ADR Committee (Brazil chapter), (2024-2026).

Member of the Brazilian Advisory Board (BAB) of the International Institute for Conflict Prevention & Resolution (CPR) (2023-2026).

Other executive certifications: Harvard University (Negotiation Skills, 2012), the International Chamber of Commerce ("ICC Advanced Academy for Arbitrators, Latin America" (2016-2017), Pepperdine University (Mediation, 2023).
