Overview

Patrick is a corporate managing associate based in the Middle East. He advises on a broad range of corporate matters, including complex cross-border private and public M&A, joint ventures, IPOs and equity raisings. His clients include regional sovereign wealth funds and government-related entities as well as regional and international financial sponsors, institutional investors and corporates. He is a core member of the relationship team for some of the firm’s most important regional clients.

Prior to his relocation to the Middle East, Patrick was based in the firm’s London office. He has also completed clients secondment with DP World and Meraas Holding (now part of Dubai Holding).

Work highlights

Patrick has been a key adviser on a wide range of significant corporate transactions. These include advising:

  • Lunate on its acquisition of a 40% stake in ADNOC Oil Pipelines from BlackRock and KKR
  • OTPP as a consortium member on the US$10.1bn investment into ADNOC’s natural gas pipelines (the largest foreign direct investment into the UAE and MENA Infrastructure Deal of the Year, PFI Awards 2020)
  • A successful consortium member on the US$12.4bn investment into Saudi Aramco’s oil pipelines (MENA Oil & Gas Deal of the Year, IJ Global 2021)
  • ICD and Brookfield on their divestment of a 49% interest in the holding company of ICD Brookfield Place, a premium commercial tower in the DIFC (the largest institutional third-party single asset real estate transaction in the UAE and one of the largest commercial real estate transactions globally since 2020)
  • Brookfield on its joint venture with Gulf Islamic Investments to invest in logistics warehousing assets across the GCC region
  • Eni on its US$3.5bn acquisition of a 20% equity stake in ADNOC Refining and its investment into ADNOC Global Trading
  • Emaar Properties on the US$2bn acquisition of 50% of Dubai Creek Harbour from Dubai Holding
  • DP World on the establishment of a strategic equity partnership with Evyap, through the acquisition of a 58% interest in Evyap Port and sale of a 42% interest in DP World Yarimca port
  • SABIC on the sale of its wholly-owned subsidiary, Saudi Iron & Steel Company (Hadeed), to the Public Investment Fund for SAR12.5bn (US$3.3bn)
  • The issuer on the IPOs of Emaar Development (DFM), Burjeel Holdings (ADX) and Biffa (London)
  • The underwriters on the IPOs of Spinneys (the first DIFC company to be listed on the DFM) and Talabat (the first ADGM company to be listed on the DFM and the largest global tech IPO of 2024)
