Overview
Tiago Ventura Mendes has been promoted Senior Managing Associate (Luxembourg) in 2024 in the Capital Markets and Banking department.
Since joining Linklaters in 2015, he has been advising banks, borrowers and sponsors across a wide range of financing structures, debt issuances and regulatory matters. He specialises in real estate financing, fund financing, margin lending, debt issuances and securitisation transactions, as well as insolvency and restructuring matters, including enforcement of security interests. As part of regulatory matters, he regularly advises on various aspects relating to prospectus, transparency and market abuse regulations as well as on distributed ledger technology (DLT)-related matters, particularly with respect to (digital) debt issuances.
In 2018, Tiago spent six months on secondment to a leading Swiss private banking institution.
Tiago is a member of the sub-group “Financing in PE” of the Legal Committee of the Luxembourg Private Equity and Venture Capital Association (LPEA).
Work highlights:
- The Grand Duchy of Luxembourg: advising on the establishment of its first ever Treasury Note Programme.
- A private equity firm: advising on a financing for the refinancing of the senior loan granted to a company and for the new acquisition of German and Swiss businesses from a flavour and fragrance company group.
- Caixa Geral de Depósitos, S.A.: advising this state-owned banking-corporation on its sale of two real estate assets in Luxembourg.
Education and qualifications
Tiago holds an LL.M in International Financial Law from the King’s College London and an LL.M in European Banking and Financial Law from the University of Luxembourg as well as a Master’s degree in European Law from the same university.
Tiago speaks French, Luxembourgish, English, German and Portuguese.
