Linklaters advises Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners on its strategic investment in CWP’s Green Hydrogen Business
Linklaters has advised Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) on the acquisition of a 26.67% stake in CWP H1 Energy Pte. Ltd. (CWP H1), the green hydrogen and green ammonia venture of CWP Global (CWP), and related strategic joint venture arrangements. The strategic investment will enhance CWP H1’s development portfolio of ultra-large-scale green hydrogen hubs, including projects across Africa, Australia and the Americas with a combined renewable energy capacity exceeding 200GW.
The investment brings together CWP’s green hydrogen team and CIP’s expertise in financing and developing large-scale green transition infrastructure, and adds to CIP’s participation in gigawatt scale PtX developments. CIP’s backing represents a significant vote of confidence in the emerging green hydrogen sector from one of the world’s largest renewable energy infrastructure investors.
Linklaters’ cross-practice and multi-jurisdictional team was led by Energy & Infrastructure partner Mark Russell, with the team comprising of managing associates Arani Chakrabarty, Tim Broune, Richard Ness (all London) and En-Li Lim (Singapore). They were supported by Corporate associates Eoin Quinsey (London) and Dave Yeo (Singapore) and competition associate Charl van der Merwe (London).
Mark Russell, commented:
“CWP H1’s projects have the potential to make an important contribution to decarbonisation of hard-to-abate sectors across the world. We are proud to have supported CIP on this investment, which is a significant addition to its growing pipeline of power-to-X projects”.
