Overview

Chan is a Managing Associate based in our London’s office’s Energy & Infrastructure Group and has been with the firm since September 2014. She has experience advising lenders, ECAs, sponsors and funds on project development and construction, cross-border project financings and M&A transactions in the energy and infrastructure sectors in Europe and Africa. In particular, Chan is a key member of the firm’s ECA and export finance practice.

Chan also completed a six-month secondment at Citigroup Global Markets Limited in the Markets Legal (Fixed Income) Team, and a four-month secondment to our Lisbon office in the Banking and Projects Group.

Work highlights

  • UK Export Finance: advising UK Export Finance on and updating their suite of buyer credit and direct lending precedents as well as training the UKEF legal and commercial teams on the UKEF legal documentation
  • Rolls Royce: advising UKEF and lenders on the Export Development Guarantee Facility to Rolls Royce, including a £1,600m term loan facility, guaranteed by UKEF and £400m term commercial loan facility.
  • Nacala Corridor and Port: advising JBIC, NEXI, AfDB, ECIC and commercial lenders on the US$2.7bn project financing of the Nacala Corridor Project, a 900km rail and port project in Mozambique and Malawi sponsored by Vale and Mitsui, and the largest ever project financing in sub-Saharan Africa, awarded PFI Logistics Deal of the Year (Middle East and Africa), awarded IJGlobal Africa Transport Deal of the Year and named by IJGlobal as one of 10 most significant deals in the last 20 years
  • Seagreen Wind Farm: advising SSE on the development and construction of Seagreen Wind Farm, located off the shore of Scotland with a combined potential capacity of 1,500 MW.
  • UK Department for Transport: advising the UK Department for Transport on the Emergency Recovery Measures Agreements and termination sums in relation to the Rail Franchise Agreements.
  • CEPSA – Oil & Gas bid: advising Carlyle in the purchase from Mubadala of a 30-40% minority stake in CEPSA, an integrated (upstream, midstream and downstream) international oil and gas business worth over USD 12 billion, with assets located in over 20 jurisdictions.
