Overview

Piotr was promoted in May 2024 to Managing Associate in the Investment Funds Department.

He joined Linklaters Luxembourg in 2018 and advises leading global fund sponsors and managers on structuring, setting up and managing investment funds, mainly focusing on a broad range of alternative products (both unregulated and regulated). His areas of expertise include real estate, private equity, infrastructure, and private credit funds, as well as ELTIFs. In parallel, Piotr advises on retail products (UCITS), fund-related aspects of derivatives and is regularly involved in fund finance projects. In his practice, Piotr regularly works with the CSSF and has developed a deep knowledge of the local market standards as he navigates his clients through the regulator’s administrative practice. His most notable recent experience comprises (i) advising a leading US asset manager on establishment of a retail distributed private equity ELTIF qualifying as so-called Article 9 product having an environmentally sustainable investment objective, (ii) advising a leading real estate asset manager on an establishment of a Delaware rated notes’ feeder fund dedicated to investors that are Korean insurance companies, as well as (iii) KID repapering (from UCITS KIID to PRIIPs-KID) for a number of UCITS funds.

He also advises fund managers, banks, investment firms and payment institutions on a variety of regulatory matters, including topics such as AML, reporting and licensing in Luxembourg.

He is part of several working groups of the Association of the Luxembourg Fund Industry (ALFI), namely infrastructure funds and EMIR.

Work highlights:
  • KKR: advising on almost all their EEA fund structurings for many years. During last year, we advised KKR on fundraises of closed-ended and open-ended funds, some of which are record-breaking for KKR, with different focuses varying across all asset classes (credit, real estate, infrastructure, private equity) and strategies. In each case, we assisted with the structuring of the fund entities, their establishment, marketing and distribution aspects, investor closings, and other more product-specific matters.
  • Hines: advising on the establishment of Hines Asia Property Partners, its flagship pan-Asian open-ended core+ real estate fund, and Hines European Property Partners, its sister pan-European core+ fund.
  • CBRE Investment Management: advising on structuring, establishment, fundraise and ongoing operations of their various fund products and managed accounts (both regulated and unregulated).
  • ResponsAbility investments: advising impact manager in the structuring and fund raising of their Asia Climate Fund (target size of US$500m), featuring subordinated capital structure with junior and senior equity.
