Linklaters elevates Greater China corporate and capital markets practices with stellar new hires
Linklaters is thrilled to announce a significant expansion of its Greater China corporate and capital markets practices with the addition of: Christine Xu as partner and Head of Greater China ECM, Oliver Zhong initially as Special Senior Adviser and New Economy Team Leader (Greater China), as well as Queenie Tong and Samson Chan as counsel.
Christine is a prominent ECM practitioner, with a focus on issuers and underwriters in the new economy sectors, including technology, media, healthcare and life sciences, and consumer. Christine joins Linklaters from Clifford Chance where she was a partner.
Oliver has a formidable reputation in corporate finance and capital markets transactions, including Hong Kong SAR and US-registered initial public offerings and debt offerings under Rule 144A and Regulation S, with a focus on issuers in the healthcare, consumer, technology, and real estate sectors. Prior to joining Linklaters, Oliver was a partner with Sidley Austin.
Christine and Oliver are joined by counsel Queenie and Samson, both ECM specialists from Clifford Chance.
These four new hires bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise in the new economy sector and complement our existing team led by ECM-focused partners Lipton Li and Donnelly Chan. These hires also follow the joining of Roger Cheng, an M&A and public takeovers expert, as partner in August 2023 and represent a significant increase to our partner bench strength in corporate M&A, ECM and capital markets offerings in Greater China.
Linklaters’ Asia Head of Corporate Sophie Mathur commented:
“Christine, Oliver, Queenie and Samson joining our team is a testament to our commitment to the Chinese markets and aligns seamlessly with our strategic goals. Their experience will complement our existing team and will greatly enhance our support for corporate, financial institution, and private equity clients in corporate and capital markets transactions, alongside complex M&A, takeovers, and restructurings involving listed companies.”
Linklaters’ Asia Managing Partner William Liu commented:
“I am delighted to welcome the team led by Christine and Oliver to our top-ranked corporate practice. As luminaries in new economy sectors, they are perfectly positioned to guide the next wave of unicorn companies in Greater China and across Asia.
