Carl re-joined Linklaters in the Hong Kong office in 2022, having previously been with the firm from 2001 to 2018, and is the former Head of the firm’s Asia Financial Regulation practice. Carl has almost 25 years of experience across the Hong Kong SAR and UK markets advising a wide range of financial services clients and advises on a broad range of complex regulatory issues. Carl has been recognised by legal ratings agencies for his work in both Hong Kong and the UK.

Andy Vickery, Global Head of Finance, stated:

“Many congratulations to Carl on his appointment as Global Head of Financial Regulation Group. I am confident that Carl’s deep understanding of various regulatory landscapes and long-standing relationships with the firm’s key clients across Europe and Asia will further elevate our leading global platform.

It has been a pleasure working closely with Peter and I would like to thank him for his leadership and significant contribution as Global Practice Head for FRG over the last decade. I am delighted that Peter will continue to support the practice and our clients as the Global Chair of Financial Regulation.”

Carl Fernandes commented:

“It is a privilege to be asked to lead the premier financial regulatory practice amongst leading global law firms. Peter has done an amazing job in driving the practice to new heights over the last 10 years, and he will continue to lead by example through his client-centric approach to practice. My job is to ensure that the full power of our global platform remains focused on supporting our clients, and that we remain the counsel of choice for them in relation to their most complex regulatory needs, in whatever context those needs arise.”
