Overview
Bob is a managing associate in the banking team based in Amsterdam. He advises on a wide range of cross-border financing transactions, where he acts for Dutch and international financial institutions and corporates.
Bob spent three months on secondment to ING’s lending legal team in 2022, advising on a broad array of finance deals.
Work highlights
- The Steinhoff group: advising on two landmark restructurings: a €10.4bn restructuring through a Dutch “WHOA” process, and a €14bn global restructuring through a Dutch “suspension of payments” process in parallel with South African scheme of arrangement.
- Western European oil trader Finco Fuel: advising on its ESG-linked borrowing base facilities with a four bank syndicate.
- Haya Real Estate: advising on its successful recapitalisation (including in relation to the recourse position vis-à-vis a Dutch incorporated parent entity) utilising an English scheme of arrangement and Spanish homologación.
- The Sponsor team comprising Meridiam, Allianz Capital Partners and Kansai Electric Power on the financing of the NeuConnect interconnector between the UK and Germany.
- The lenders and security agent: advising on the work-out of an English law governed US$200m facility agreement with the borrowers.
- The lenders: advising on a restructuring of debts owed by an international group, predominantly active in the US and India, under various debt instruments including certain debentures and a term loan.
Professional experience
Bob joined Linklaters as a junior associate in 2017 and was promoted to managing associate in 2023.
In 2022, Bob was seconded to ING’s lending legal team for three months.
Education and qualifications
Bob obtained his bachelor Dutch law at Maastricht University, and his master’s degree in corporate law from the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam.
He speaks English and Dutch.
