Overview
Gabriela is a Counsel in our investment funds team and has experience in private equity, real estate, infrastructure, and debt funds work, assisting with both transactional and advisory matters for a broad range of clients.
Gabriela advises sponsors on a wide range of matters, including fund formation and operation, access funds, co-investments, separately managed accounts, fund restructurings, GP-led secondaries and carried interest arrangements. Gabriela is noted as a key lawyer in the Private Funds section of the Legal 500.
Gabriela also has extensive experience advising sovereign wealth funds (including in the Middle East and Asia), pension funds and institutional investors on their investments into funds, managed accounts, co-investments and secondary transactions.
Work highlights
- Three of the largest Middle Eastern Sovereign Wealth Funds: advising on their fund investments into a range of asset classes, as well as single asset co-investments and secondary transactions.
- OTPP and PSP: advising two of Canada's largest pension investment managers on their fund investments in European buy-out and credit funds.
- Aermont Capital: advising on:
- the establishment and operation of their fifth-generation opportunistic €3.78bn real estate fund, and previously fourth generation €2bn real estate fund and third generation €1.5bn real estate fund.
- the establishment of their first single asset co-investment vehicle alongside their fourth generation real estate fund.
- SoftBank: advising on the establishment and operation of their market-leading approx. US$100bn SoftBank Vision Fund, the largest private equity or VC fund ever established.
- UK infrastructure asset manager: advising on their first GP-led secondary / continuation fund to acquire and grow an existing portfolio from one of their funds.
- iCapital: advising on the structuring and launch of their access funds, which focus on providing broader access to private capital across a variety of asset classes.
Professional experience
Gabriela trained and qualified in London and spent one year working with sponsors and investors in the New York investments funds team, six months in the Hong Kong investment funds team assisting our clients in Asia and seven months on a client secondment at SoftBank.
Education and qualifications
Gabriela has an LLB in Law with European Legal Studies from King’s College London and an LLM from Católica Global School of Law in Lisbon. She studied the LPC at the University of Law.
