Overview

Nicolas advises and represents clients across a wide variety of sectors in domestic and cross-border litigation, and national and international arbitration, including (extra-) contractual disputes.

 

Work Highlights

Nicolas has acted in a wide range of disputes. Those that can be disclosed include:

  • representing insurance companies in post-M&A disputes, also involving related commercial litigation;
  • representing an international mining company in cross border litigation with a major wholesale customer;
  • assisting a Belgian listed company in international arbitration proceedings and, subsequently, in negotiating and closing a cross border settlement agreement;
  • representing an international fund manager in a major post-transaction dispute;
  • representing a leasing company as civil claimant in criminal proceedings concerning a multi-million-euro fraud in the context of renewable energy projects.

Professional experience

Nicolas joined the Litigation, Arbitration and Investigations Group in Brussels in 2021.

For the judicial year 2023-2024, Nicolas was elected representative of the trainee lawyers of the Dutch-speaking Brussels Bar Association.

He was re-elected in this role for the judicial year 2024-2025.

Education and qualifications

Nicolas studied at Ghent University and at Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne University. He holds a Master of Laws (LL.M.) degree in Corporate and Commercial Law from The London School of Economics and Political Science.

Nicolas speaks Dutch, French and English.
