Headlines on climate change, ethical supply chains, and large-scale corporate fraud continue to keep Environmental, Social, and Governance (“ESG”) issues in the spotlight across the world, including in Asia. As interest in ESG opportunities increases, there is also a much stronger awareness of the attendant risks that can arise.
In this note we summarise recent ESG-related measures taken by regulators in key Asian financial markets and how these measures and other hot-button ESG issues give rise to potential liability for businesses operating in Asia.
