Carmen is a partner in the corporate and M&A department in Madrid, with extensive experience in private equity, general M&A, and joint ventures, including commercial agreements for domestic and international clients. She focuses on the consumer, telecom, media, and technology sectors.

Chambers ranked her as a top lawyer in corporate and private equity in Spain, praising her technical expertise and solution-oriented approach. Clients describe her as highly commercial, hands-on, and a strong negotiator who seeks the best deals while highlighting risks and offering solutions. Work highlights

Carmen has led or advised on many market-leading deals. These include:

  • Advising Permira on the €2.2bn sale to EQT of a majority stake in Universidad Europea, as well as on its acquisition of a stake in AltamarCAM.
  • Advising Ardian and the minority shareholders on the transfer to CVC Capital Partners of Monbake, as well as on the subsequent add-on of La Niña del Sur. She also advised on the previous acquisition of Monbake by Ardian.
  • Advising Actis on the acquisition from Asterion of a portfolio of 11 data centers in Chile, Brazil, Peru, Argentina, Mexico and USA.
  • Advising Vauban Infrastructure Partners and Credit Agricole Assurance on the €2.5bn acquisition of a 45% stake of the rural fiber of Telefónica, Bluevía Fibra.
  • Advising Crédit Agricole Assurances and Energy Infrastructure Partners on the €905m acquisition of a 25% stake in Repsol Renovables from Repsol.
  • Advising IVIRMA’s shareholders on the €3bn sale of the company to KKR – the biggest transaction in the Spanish Private Equity sector in 2023.

Professional Experience

Carmen has had several management responsibilities in the Madrid office, including being one of the Knowledge & Learning Partners, one of the Recruiting Partners in the Madrid office and the MSC Staffer.

Education & Qualifications

Carmen studied Law and Business (E-3) at Universidad Pontificia Comillas in Madrid (Spain).

In addition to Spanish and English, Carmen advises frequently in French and has a good knowledge of Portuguese.
