Overview

Francesca has worked in London, Australia and the UAE and is familiar working with several jurisdictions on cross-border investigations. She has worked in private practice at Westpac and at the Royal Courts of Justice as the judicial assistant to Mr Justice Peter Smith.

Francesca's experience includes:

  • advising a major financial services firm on parallel investigations by the SFO, DOJ and FCA;
  • acting for Westpac in the civil penalty proceedings commenced by the CEO of AUSTRAC;
  • advising a major Australian bank in connection with an investigation by ASIC into potentially misleading and deceptive conduct and breaches of the general obligations owed by financial services licensees;
  • advising a major Australian bank in connection with an investigation into corruption in an overseas subsidiary, involving self-reporting to the AFP, ASIC and equivalent foreign subsidiaries;
  • advising a range of clients, including international banks and financial institutions on AML laws and other areas of financial crime, modern slavery, human rights laws and whistleblowing; and designing, implementing and reviewing compliance and risk management frameworks.

Education and qualifications

Francesca studied Law at the University of Cambridge and le diplôme d'Études juridiques françaises at the University of Poitiers.
