Maximilian has specialised experience advising on corporate mergers & acquisitions, restructurings and joint ventures as well as general corporate law advice. Additionally, as a senior member of Linklaters' Digital Economy Group as well as the German Tech Sector, Maximilian is an expert in digital transformation.

Maximilian has advised on a range of significant cases. These include advising:
- E.ON on the acquisition of innogy SE including complex legal integration measures under the German Company Reorganisation Act (Umwandlungsgesetz – UmwG) as well as subsequent asset swaps touching various jurisdictions.
- BP on the corporate restructuring of BP Europa SE.
- VTG on a multijurisdictional corporate reorganisation in the course of a refinancing of the group.
- ING DiBa AG on the hive-down and sale of the Austrian retail banking business to bank99.
- Cosco Shipping Ports Limited on the acquisition of a minority stake of 35% in HHLA Container Terminal Tollerort (CTT).
- hsh finanzfonds AöR, HSH Beteiligungs Management GmbH on the split-off of hsh finanzfonds AöR and the liquidation of HSH Beteiligungs Management GmbH.
- An Asian Fintech group on the envisaged acquisition of a majority stake in a German fintech primarily active in the development and marketing of digital bonus and customer cards as well as payment functions.
Professional experience
Maximilian joined Linklaters as an Associate in 2019. He was seconded to E.ON SE for two months in 2019 as well as to VTG AG for two months in 2020.
Education and qualifications
Maximilian studied law at Albert Ludwigs University in Freiburg and later received his doctorate from Bucerius Law School in Hamburg. During his doctoral studies and his legal clerkship at the Hanseatic Higher Regional Court, he worked for three years as a research assistant at the Max Planck Institute for Comparative and International Private Law.
He is fluent in German and English.Published works
