Overview
Sílvia Pinheiro Esteves is an Managing Associate in the Employment group in the Lisbon office´s Corporate department.
Her recent practice has focused on advising human resources departments in the private and public sector on the full spectrum of labour law and social security matters, both in the advisory and contentious sphere, often dealing with sensitive issues. Sílvia has, for example, experience in structuring complex employee incentive plans, defining the strategy for the transfer of undertaking processes and accompanying the information and consultation process. She has also acted as an instructor and followed closely disciplinary proceedings and employment litigation, having experience in redundancy and collective dismissal proceedings and in assisting senior employees and directors in relation to their remuneration and dismissal packages.
She furthermore has gained relevant expertise in company law and M&A matters, assisting national and international clients.
Professional experience
Sílvia started her legal career in 2012 with a Summer Traineeship at the Capital Markets and Debt department of the Linklaters London office, and a Summer Traineeship at the Dispute Resolution department of the Lisbon office. She then further built her career with us, at the Lisbon office, first as Junior Associate in 2013, becoming Associate in 2016, working at the Dispute Resolution department and currently she is an Associate in the Employment group in the Lisbon office´s Corporate department. In 2023 Sílvia was promoted to Managing Associate in the same department.
She furthermore is a Lecturer at the Lisbon School of Law of the Catholic University, teaching in the Post-graduation course on Corporate Law.
Sílvia provides in-house training to Linklaters Clients in her areas of expertise, such as trends & developments and topics of interest in employment law.
Education and qualifications
Sílvia holds a Law Degree of the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon. She then completed her Master in Corporate Law at the Lisbon School of Law of the Catholic University. Sílvia furthermore attended a post-graduation course with a specialisation in Labour Law and Social Security at the Institute for Labour Law at the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon.
She is a Member of the Portuguese Bar Association since 2016.
She speaks Portuguese and English.
