Overview
Carolina Gomes is an associate in the firm’s Litigation, Arbitration & Investigation department in Lisbon.
Her practice has focused on litigation with a special emphasis on corporate criminal litigation, from the investigation, litigation and the compliance perspective. She has gained experience advising national and international clients on domestic and cross-border business crime issues, with a focus on anti-corruption compliance advice in both the private and public sectors.
Carolina furthermore gained experience dealing with Banking & Finance and Competition litigation and intellectual property disputes, drafting of legislation, as well as with Life Sciences regulatory compliance advice.
Professional experience
Carolina joined Linklaters Lisbon office in 2023 as associate in its Litigation, Arbitration & Investigation department.
During her law studies, Carolina did a summer traineeship at a local law firm in Malta, Sultana Legal (2016), and another summer traineeship at the Portuguese law firm MLGTS in Porto (2017).
She furthermore worked as Legal Officer at the Consulate General of Portugal in Paris, France (2018-2019) and at the Consumer Conflict Arbitration Centre in Coimbra, Portugal (2019).
In 2020, she joined the Lisbon office of Uría Menéndez, where she became an associate in 2022.
More recently, Carolina carried out a traineeship at the European Court of Justice working for the cabinet of Judge Maria José Costeira.
Education and qualifications
Carolina holds a Law Degree from the Faculty of Law of the University of Coimbra (2018), where she was a member of the Human Rights Defence Group (2015-2017) and served a term as member of the Supervisory Board of the Academic Association of Coimbra (2016).
She did Erasmus at Université Paris II Panthéon-Assas in Paris (2017), and a Summer Course on EU Law at the King´s College in London (2019).
Carolina furthermore obtained a postgraduate diploma in Intellectual Property Law at the Catholic University of Portugal (2020), and completed her Master´s Degree in Legal and Forensic Sciences at the Faculty of Law of the University of Coimbra (2021).
She is a fully qualified member of the Portuguese Bar Association since 2022.
Carolina speaks Portuguese, English, French and Spanish.
