Overview
Jan is a Polish qualified tax adviser (doradca podatkowy), a senior associate in the Warsaw tax practice. He has been building his expertise upon in-depth knowledge of all areas of tax: predominantly CIT, PIT, VAT, international taxation and EU law. He specializes in international tax planning and structuring, tax advisory relating to M&A and restructuring transactions involving leading domestic companies, as well as transactions within the framework of international capital groups.
Jan has several years of experience in providing tax advisory to international and domestic clients. He has been involved in a number of transactions conducted in different sectors of business. In particular, he assisted in numerous projects such as advising real estate investment companies in connection with setting up an optimal and tax compliant structures in Poland, advising foreign entities on claiming back an inappropriately withheld tax on the dividends in Poland and advising on other day-to-day tax issues.
Work highlights
Jan has advised on the tax elements of many major transactions. These include advising:
- the multinational company Logoplaste, a Carlyle portfolio company, on the various tax aspects of the acquisition of a majority stake in Masterchem, a leading company in the PET packaging market in Poland and across the CEE region;
- NIAM, a leading Swedish real estate private equity firm on the tax aspects of the sale of Silesia Business Park A and B located in Katowice as well as Axis Building and Kapelanka 42A;
- a consortium of banks on arranging a revolving credit facility of up to PLN 10 billion for Polskie Górnictwo Naftowe i Gazownictwo S.A., one of the largest companies in Poland, the largest Polish oil and gas exploration and production company;
- Celsa Huta Ostrowiec sp. z o.o on the tax aspects of the reorganisation of its financial indebtedness with various financial institutions;
- a global investment management firm, on the various tax aspects of the acquisition of standing “built-to-suit” warehouse assets located across Poland and also assets which were to be developed in future.

Education and qualifications
Jan studied law at the University of Warsaw. He became a qualified tax adviser in 2019.
He speaks Polish and English.
