Overview

Yuri is a highly experienced banking finance lawyer with a strong track record of advising clients on complex cross-border finance transactions across the Middle East and emerging markets with a particular focus on the UAE and Saudi Arabia. Yuri joined Linklaters in 2010 and have worked across multiple offices of the firm.

Yuri’s experience includes advising clients on a wide range of syndicated and bilateral loan facilities, including sustainability linked financings, acquisition financings, margin loans, Islamic finance transactions, pre-export and prepayment facilities, ECA backed financings, real estate financings, as well as restructurings. 

He has a large and diverse client base comprised of global and local financial institutions, sovereign wealth funds as well as sponsors and large corporates.

Work highlights

Yuri has advised on a number market leading transactions including the following recent experience of advising:

  • The lenders on a SAR 2bn project development financing provided to a joint venture between Red Sea Global and Kingdom Holding Company for development of a large hotel operated by Four Seasons to be located on Shura Island of Saudi Arabia.
  • A syndicate of banks and UKEF on an Islamic financing provided to Qiddiya Investment Company supported by the Public Investment Fund and the guarantee of UKEF in relation to development of Six Flags Qiddiya City project.
  • A syndicate of banks on the completion of the landmark US$1.9bn syndicated financing for Rawabi Energy, one of the largest private sector financings to date in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
  • SACE S.p.A. and a pool of banks on a SACE-guaranteed €1bn “Push Strategy” facility to the Ministry of Finance of Saudi Arabia.
  • A UAE based subsidiary of an international bank on a facility provided to a large UAE based group operating across automotive, real estate, retail, lighting, travel and logistics sectors.
  • The arrangers on over US$3bn of conventional and Islamic debt financing for ADES Arabia.
  • A syndicate of major UAE banks on an acquisition financing to a major UAE logistics and transportation company on acquiring certain assets in the USA.
  • One of the Middle Eastern banks on the update of internal financing documentation of the bank in connection with conversion of a conventional bank into a Shariah compliant financial institution.

Education and qualifications

Yuri studied law at Moscow State University (Moscow). He is admitted as a Solicitor at the Law Society of England & Wales.

Yuri speaks English and Russian.
