Overview
Julia is a Senior Associate (Knowledge) in the Capital Markets/Finance practice based in Frankfurt.
She has specialised experience in debt capital markets and structured finance. She advised in particular with regard to the establishment of structured note programmes, German Schuldschein loan agreements (Schuldscheine), German registered bonds (Namensschuldverschreibungen) and OTC derivatives covering all asset classes (interest, equity, FX, credit and commodity). Recently she focuses on the latest regulatory developments in the capital markets area, amongst others on the Benchmarks and Prospectus regulation. .
She is a member of the Linklaters ESG Working Group.
Julia has been seconded in 2014 for 8 1/2 months to Deutsche Bank AG . She worked in the Asset&Wealth Management Team in Frankfurt and London and in the db-X markets team in Frankfurt (focusing on structured products in the debt capital market).
She was again seconded in 2016 to the legal department of German LBBW Bank in Stuttgart where she was focusing on the implementation of the European PRIIPs (packaged retail insurance and investment products) regulation.
Work highlights
Julia has advised on a range of significant cases. These include advising:
- on a securitisation via a European platform for financing the purchase of rental cars via a EUR 500 million sale-and-lease-back structure for Avis, arranged by Crédit Agricole Corporate and Investment Bank
- BNP Paribas Emissions- und Handelsgesellschaft as issuer in the preparation of various issuance programmes
- an international investment bank as lender and hedging counterparty of a large German entrepreneurial group in a major refinancing of existing credit liabilities
- Restructuring of a structured Schuldschein loan agreement and the corresponding swap under the German Master Agreement (DRV) with an American investment bank as calculation agent and swap counterparty
- Preparation of a German registered bond (Namensschuldverschreibung) for a large American investment bank
- Preparation of various confirmations under the German Master Agreement for (DRV) and ISDA, e.g. preparation of a sample confirmation under the DRV for securities swap transactions or preparation of confirmations for financial futures transactions
Professional experience
Julia does several presentations each year for clients regarding the latest regulatory developments in the capital markets sector.
She was a speaker at the conference “Finanzplatztag” in March 2018.
In addition, since 2018 she is a lecturer at the Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences (introductory lectures on German law).
Education and qualifications
Julia studied law in Germany at the Universities of Potsdam and in France Paris Ouest - Nanterre La Défense. At the later she did her undergraduate degree (diplôme d'études universitaires générales). She worked for three months during her traineeship in a Spanish-German law firm in Barcelona.
Subsequent to her traineeship she obtained her Master of Laws degree from the University College London, UK.
Julia is admitted to practice in Germany.
She speaks German, English, French and Spanish.
