Overview

Maëlys is an associate in the Antitrust & Foreign Investment practice of Linklaters in Paris. She advises on all areas of EU and French competition law, including merger control, antitrust proceedings, private enforcement litigation, foreign subsidies regulation and foreign investment.

Her expertise covers a wide range of industries, with a focus on food, consumer goods, water and waste industries.

Maëlys spent more than a year on secondment with the Nestlé Global Antitrust team in 2023-2024 in Switzerland. 

Work highlights

Recent significant matters in which Maëlys has been involved include: 

  • Advising GIP in its acquisition of New Suez (2022), through a consortium including, alongside GIP, Meridiam, Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations and CNP Assurances. New Suez includes the companies and activities divested by Veolia following its acquisition of Suez and accounts for approximately half of Suez; 
  • Advising Peugeot Group on its merger with Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) in 2020. The new entity, Stellantis, has become the world’s fourth largest car manufacturer in terms of volume and the third largest in turnover. This matter was awarded the GCR Award for Matter of the Year in 2021.
 

Professional experience

Maëlys joined Linklaters in 2020 and has been a member of the Paris bar since January 2021. Maëlys spent more than a year on secondment with the Nestlé Global Antitrust team in 2023-2024 in Switzerland.

Prior to joining Linklaters, Maëlys completed internships in other leading international law firms based in Paris and Brussels and at the French Competition Authority (merger unit).

Education and qualifications

Maëlys graduated from King’s College London with an LL.M. in Competition Law and holds a Master’s degree in International and European Business Law from Paris Dauphine University and a Master degree in EU Law from Paris II Panthéon-Assas University. Maëlys also conducted a bachelor in EU law at the Catholic University of Lille.

Maëlys is fluent in French and English.
