Richard has almost 20 years of experience advising creditors, borrowers, insolvency practitioners and other stakeholders on all aspects of financial restructurings and formal insolvency proceedings across the Asia region. Widely recognised as one of the leading restructuring and insolvency practitioners in the region, Richard has an established track record of advising on high profile, complex transactions, many of which were also Asia-firsts.

Richard’s experience in Asia allows him to help clients find and maximise the leverage available to them in any given situation.

Work highlights
  • Richard has extensive experience working on Asian transactions that have involved implementation through a court sanctioned procedure (often across multiple jurisdictions) including Vinashin, LDK, Noble, KrisEnergy and many more. 
  • Richard has a strong track record of advising secured creditors and appointed receivers on complex cross border transactions in the Real Estate sector including advising on Baha Mar in the Bahamas, the Kimberley Hotel in Hong Kong and the Goldin Financial Global Centre in Hong Kong.
  • Richard has advised creditors in connection with many of the high profile PRC developer defaults. These are ongoing transactions.
