2023 was marked by an ever-changing economic, political and financial climate worldwide which led to a wide range of disputes, many of which are being, or have been, resolved by arbitration. The political situation in Europe, as well as global concern for climate change, are likely to continue to give rise to disputes into 2024.

The new year will also see the entry into force of revised arbitration rules of the CIETAC, the CRCICA and the Madrid International Arbitration Centre, as well as the first year of operation of the Abu Dhabi International Arbitration Centre (arbitrateAD) and the United Patent Court’s Patent Arbitration and Mediation Centre.
