Overview
Lucas Costa Velho is an Associate in the Lisbon Dispute Resolution Department.
His practice has focused on litigation and arbitration with special emphasis on Commercial & Corporate Law, assisting national and international corporate clients such as banks, insurance companies and real estate companies in contentious and non-contentious matters, such as M&A and contractual disputes, mis-selling and capital markets litigation, and insolvency and corporate restructuring issues.
Professional experience
Lucas started his legal career in 2017 working as legal adviser at the Office of the Secretary of State of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers of the XXI Constitutional Government. He then joined the local law firm Pinto Ribeiro Advogados as Trainee-Lawyer in 2018, working in Litigation, Arbitration, and Commercial & Corporate Law, becoming an Associate there in 2021.
In 2022 he joined the Lisbon office of Linklaters in its Dispute Resolution Department.
Lucas volunteers as Secretary of the Board of the General Meeting of It's About Impact, a Portuguese non-profit sociocultural association that produces social impact content for a mainstream audience, using storytelling to engage people in causes.
Education and qualifications
Lucas holds a Law Degree of the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon (2017). He furthermore attended to the Postgraduation course on Corporate Finance of the Centre of Investigation of Private Law of the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon.
Lucas is a Member of the National Board of the National Association of Young Portuguese Lawyers (ANJAP).
He is a fully qualified Member of the Portuguese Bar Association since 2021.
Lucas speaks Portuguese and English.
