Overview
Oscar Saunders represents sponsors of and investors in a range of alternative investment funds, including private credit funds, blockchain investment funds, hybrid funds and private equity funds.
Oscar’s practice is informed by his time spent as Deputy General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer of a U.S. registered investment adviser. During this time, Oscar managed the launch of the adviser’s first product investing in the DeFi sector and related sectors. This experience honed Oscar’s skills in helping clients navigate regulatory ambiguity and in providing concise, actionable advice to clients.
Oscar’s practice is also informed by his finance background. Oscar has an MBA from the NYU Leonard N. School of Business and recently passed Level I of the CFA Program.
Oscar is committed to promoting anti-racism in the legal industry. To help educate the legal community about certain aspects of diversity, Oscar has created the first dynamic report card allowing users to customize the criteria (and weightings) used to grade some of the top law firms in the United States. Oscar is also committed to maintaining a robust pro bono practice, and recently helped a Tibetan client in the grant of his asylum application.

Oscar's recent highlights include:
- Managed a sponsor’s launch of its first digital asset product, including preparing policies designed to comply with the Advisers Act and protect private keys and other sensitive material
- Helped a sponsor issue bonds on the TASE in order to reduce financing costs associated with leverage incurred by funds sponsored by the manager
Education and qualifications
Oscar holds a Juris Doctor from the NYU School of Law and a Masters in Business Administration from the Leonard N. Stern School of Business. Oscar obtained his undergraduate degree at Pomona College, where he majored in Economics and French.
