Tom is a corporate lawyer, who advises across the full range of corporate transactions, with a particular focus on M&A and with sectoral expertise in energy deals. However, he has the ability and experience to handle corporate transactions in any sector.

Work highlights

Tom has advised on many major M&A deals, including advising:

  • BP on the acquisition of the 50.03% interest it does not already own in Lightsource bp, a developer and operator of utility-scale solar and battery storage assets
  • Macquarie Asset Management on its acquisition of a 50% stake in Last Mile Infrastructure Group (Last Mile) from Infracapital, the infrastructure equity investment arm of M&G
  • Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP), a part of BlackRock, on its significant investment in Lanes Group, one of the UK’s leading providers of water and wastewater services
  • Thermo Fisher on its acquisition of The Binding Site, a global leader in specialty diagnostics, from a shareholder group led by Nordic Capital, in a transaction valued at £2.3bn
  • WSP on its US$1.9bn acquisition of the environment and infrastructure business of John Wood Group
  • Mainstream Renewable Power, a global pure-play renewable energy company, on its €900m acquisition by Aker Horizons
