Overview

Katrien is a dually qualified and all-round litigator. She represents clients in complex domestic and international litigation and arbitration matters as well as compliance matters. Katrien has extensive experience in commercial and finance disputes, as well as restructuring and insolvency matters (including the enforcement of financial collateral) and auditor litigation.

Katrien serves as the Draftsperson of the Rules Standing Committee of the Hague Court of Arbitration for Aviation (which has been shortlisted by the Global Arbitration Review for “Best New Development”) and is the chair of the legal committee of the British Chamber of Commerce in Luxembourg.

Katrien has been recognised as a” rising star” by the Legal 500 and as an “associate to watch” by Chambers & Partners.”

  • Devas: advising in revocation and setting aside proceedings instituted by the Republic of India before Dutch courts in relation to an investment arbitral award regarding a dispute about the cancellation of a major telecommunications lease agreement.
  • A Big Four accounting firm: defending a multimillion professional negligence claim in relation to the provision of audit service
  • Financing parties to Arctic LNG 2 and Yamal LNG: advising on EU and Luxembourg sanctions issues under the Russia sanctions regime

Education and qualifications

Katrien holds a Master of Law from the University of Leuven (Belgium), a Master of Science, European Studies from the London School of Economics (United Kingdom)
