Directors’ pay and Covid-19: remuneration reports and planning for the AGM season
Remuneration reports for the 2020 financial year will be the first opportunity for investors to consider, in any meaningful way, companies’ responses to Covid-19 on executive pay. Investors, particularly those impacted by reduced or cancelled dividends and share price volatility, are likely to scrutinise board pay sharply. In addition, there will be public interest in the extent to which executives have ‘shared the pain’ suffered by workers, particularly in companies which have benefitted from any form of state aid.
