In recent years there has been a paradigm shift in the scope and frequency of foreign investment reviews as part of the deal process. An increasing number of jurisdictions have introduced or strengthened foreign investment controls or, like the UK, are planning to do so. Against this backdrop, the debate over the UK’s impending exit from the EU has highlighted very different views as to the UK’s openness to foreign investments.
