Overview
David is a Partner in Linklaters’ U.S. Structured Finance Practice. David advises global financial institutions and private credit funds on a wide range of derivatives products and asset classes (including credit, rates, FX, equity, longevity) in both funded and unfunded form. He has drafted a number of market standard document templates for the International Swaps and Derivatives Association, Inc. (ISDA) and other derivatives industry bodies, including the 2014 ISDA Credit Derivatives Definitions and documentation for confirming trades referencing the iTraxx and CDX indices.
David is a leader in the credit derivatives market. He is the U.S. adviser to the Credit Derivatives Determinations Committees which determine Credit Events and other matters for the global credit derivatives market. David also regularly advises on various aspects of the transition of the over-the-counter derivatives market to regulated trading platforms and central clearing houses, as well the registration of swap dealers under the Dodd-Frank Act. David is ranked Band 2 in Chambers USA for Derivatives.
David was a co-founder of the international LGBTQ+ affinity group at his prior firm and is a vocal advocate for the LGBTQ+ community. He regularly leads initiatives to encourage workplace diversity and helps foster a culture where all colleagues feel welcome and valued.

Selected experience includes advising:
- ISDA on the drafting of the 2014 ISDA Credit Derivatives Definitions, as well as the establishment of the Credit Derivatives Determinations Committees and Auction Settlement process.*
- On Credit Events linked to both corporate and sovereign entities such as Avon, Sears, Vue, Russia and Argentina.*
- Issuers, investors and arrangers on Significant Risk Transfer/Credit Risk Transfer transactions. He recently advised the arrangers of the debut issuance of an SRT/CRT transaction by a large Canadian bank which won SCI’s CRT Awards North American Transaction of the Year. He has also advised on SRT transactions involving other Canadian and U.S. bank issuers.*
- In funding agreement-backed repo facilities, as a tool for financing insurance companies. David has closed a number of transactions over the course of the last two years on behalf of international financial institutions who provide funding and liquidity to insurance companies.*

Education and qualifications
David received his LL.B. from Kings College in London and was admitted to the Bar of the State of New York in 2007. He is also admitted to practice in England and Wales.
