Lodewick has extensive experience at both national and EU level in the antitrust aspects of complex global M&A deals, including remedy processes. He has successfully advised clients on market-leading deals, investigations and litigation in the chemicals, healthcare, financial services, media, mining, mobility and technology sectors.

He is also the go-to person for any queries related to Belgium, Luxembourg or the Netherlands on antitrust investigations and litigation, merger control, foreign investment control and foreign subsidies regulation. Chambers Global 2024 has ranked Lodewick as a Foreign Expert for the Netherlands, citing his notable experience assisting clients with obtaining merger clearance before the Dutch competition authority and representing clients in investigations. Clients describe him as “very good”.

Lodewick has been a key advisor on a number of significant M&A and antitrust matters. These include advising:

  • Nasdaq on the sale of its EU power business to EEX, the third-ever Article 22 referral to the European Commission of a transaction that was not notifiable anywhere in the EU
  • Intel on the USD 7bn sale of its NAND and SSD memory business to SK Hynix
  • LG Electronics on the appeal before the European Courts in Luxembourg against a EUR 296m cartel fine imposed by the European Commission in relation to the CRT cartel
  • Linde on its USD 86bn merger with Praxair, creating the world’s largest industrial gas supplier
  • Delhaize on its EUR 25bn merger with Ahold, creating one of the biggest food retailers in the United States and a major player in Europe
  • a global healthcare company on an excessive pricing investigation by the Dutch competition authority, leading to the authority closing the investigation
  • TDR Capital on its EUR 5bn sale of LeasePlan to ALD, creating a leading global player in mobility
  • DELA on its acquisition of Yarden, creating the largest funeral insurance and service provider in the Netherlands
  • ING and KBC on the sale of Payconiq International to EPI
  • Mediahuis on several acquisitions in the Netherlands (NDC and TMG)

Professional experience

Lodewick joined Linklaters as an associate in 2013. He was promoted to Partner in 2024. During his career at Linklaters, Lodewick was seconded to the Firm’s London office. Given his close link to the Dutch market, he splits his time between the Amsterdam and Brussels offices.

Before joining Linklaters, Lodewick interned at the European Commission’s Directorate General for Competition and the Dutch Competition Authority (the ACM).

Education and qualifications

Lodewick studied law at the University of Amsterdam (LLM degree, Magna Cum Laude), Oxford University (MJur degree, Lincoln College) and the New York University School of Law.

Lodewick works in Dutch and English. He is a member of the Amsterdam bar and registered on the EU list of the Dutch-speaking bar in Brussels.
