Overview
Richard is a managing associate based in our London office. He has a broad range of experience and specialises in complex domestic and cross-border M&A and joint ventures. He regularly advises a number of the firm’s listed clients on corporate governance matters and ongoing obligations.
Richard spent a year on secondment to Glencore between 2019 and 2020. During his secondment he worked on a number of transactions, including the disposal of its interest in Mopani Copper Mines.
Richard is a core member of a number of the firm’s client relationship teams, including Glencore and CK Hutchison.

- KFC on the acquisition of more than 200 restaurants in the UK & Ireland from the EG Group.
- CK Hutchison on the proposed formation of a EUR 3.4 billion Netco joint venture in Italy with EQT.
- Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners on its strategic acquisition of a 26.67 per cent. stake in a green hydrogen and green ammonia venture of CWP Global.
- Mayr-Melnhof on the GBP 312m class 1 acquisition of the packaging business of Essentra.
- Glencore on a series of business disposals in South America.
- CK Hutchison on the EUR 10 billion disposal of its European telecommunication towers assets to Cellnex Telecom.
- Qatar Investment Authority on the GBP 85 million investment in Rolls-Royce SMR Limited, an SPV established by Rolls-Royce for the development of a proprietary small modular nuclear reactor business.
- A multinational commodity trading and mining company on the proposed USD 250 million acquisition of a minority stake in a smelter project in Mozambique.
- Quaker Houghton on the GBP 80 million acquisition of the entire business of Norman Hay plc, a family-controlled UK-based manufacturer of impregnation sealants, surface coatings and electroplating products.
- SIX Group AG on the CHF 3 billion disposal of its payment services division to, and strategic partnership with, Worldline SA.
Education and qualifications
Richard holds a first-class undergraduate degree in Law from St Mary’s College, Durham.
He obtained a Distinction on the Legal Practice Course at the University of Law.
