Wolfgang was Research Assistant at the Max-Planck Institut for international and foreign private law in 1989 until 1993, when he became Attorney-at-Law. He joined the legal predecessor Oppenhoff & Rädler in 1995 and became junior Partner by 1999. In 2000 he got promoted to Partner. After the merging of Oppenhoff & Rädler with Linklaters he became Partner at Linklaters in 2001. 

Wolfgang studied law at the University of Tübingen, Munich and Göttingen. He holds a Master of Laws from the University of Illinois and promoted at the University of Hamburg. 

Wolfgang is qualified as Attorney-at-Law (New York, USA).
