Linklaters advises Siemens Healthineers on the acquisition of Advanced Accelerator Applications Molecular Imaging from Novartis

Linklaters advises Siemens Healthineers on the acquisition of Advanced Accelerator Applications Molecular Imaging from Novartis. The acquired company will be known as Advanced Accelerator Applications, a Siemens Healthineers company.

Advanced Accelerator Applications Molecular Imaging is a European manufacturing and distribution network of diagnostic radiopharmaceuticals for positron emission tomography (PET) scans. The transaction includes the manufacturing and distribution network, its workforce, its product portfolio and relationships with radioligand imaging developers. The transaction was closed in December 2024.

The acquisition complements the Siemens Healthineers PETNET Solutions network of 47 radiopharmacies, primarily in the U.S., with an additional 13 manufacturing sites across France, Spain, Portugal, Italy and Germany, as well as product distribution into Switzerland. Proximity to patients is essential for radiopharmaceuticals, which have short half-lives and must be used on the day of manufacture.
