Derek Poon

Derek is a Partner in the Linklaters’ U.S. Structured Finance Practice. He specializes in asset-backed financings and securitizations across a wide range of structures and asset classes, including those backed by credit card, auto, trade finance, aviation, renewables, and infrastructure assets.

Derek also regularly advises clients on regulatory matters in connection with structured finance transactions, including on U.S. credit risk retention and Volcker Rule issues.

• A leading auto finance company: advising as originator, servicer and seller in connection with the issuance of auto loan and auto lease ABS in multiple bilateral and syndicated amortizing and revolving facilities.*
• A leading financial institution: advising on the establishment of and issuances under a credit card receivables-backed program.*
• A leading investment firm: advising in connection with the establishment and issuances under multiple securitized lending structures backed by renewable assets.*
• A leading financial institution: advising on an off-balance sheet securitization of trade receivables financed by U.S. and international conduits.*
• A leading alternative investment firm: advising on the aviation sector’s first broadly syndicated aircraft loan securitization.*
