Overview
Jia-Yi is highly experienced in advising on complex M&A transactions in the technology sector, and has advised on complex international data privacy and cybersecurity matters (including coordinating regional and international data breach responses). She also has a niche in digital transformation and digital infrastructure projects.
Prior to her move to Singapore in 2020, Jia-Yi trained and qualified in Linklaters’ London office and was also seconded to Linklaters’ Hong Kong office.
Jia-Yi is recognised as a Leading Associate by Legal 500 and Associate to Watch by Chambers & Partners.
Jia-Yi is the co-chair of the Singapore Social Impact Committee.

Work highlights
Jia-Yi has advised on many market-leading transactions. These include advising:
- DigitalBridge on their acquisition of Yondr Group, a global hyperscale data centre platform.
- Lenders to Blackstone and other consortium members on their acquisition of AirTrunk, the largest data centre platform in the Asia Pacific region. With a deal value of A$24bn (approx. US$16.1bn), this represents the largest buyout in Australia in 2024.
- Etisalat's global investment arm on its proposed US$400m investment in exchange for a majority stake in Careem’s Super App which provides numerous integrated consumer centric digital services.
- Citi on the sale of its consumer bank franchises in Southeast Asia: the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam. At a deal value of over US$3bn, this was one of the largest M&A deals in Asia Pacific in 2021.
- Qatar Investment Authority on its investment into Insider, a female-led international marketing technology company with key operations in Turkey and Singapore.
- several global companies on cyber-preparedness (including incident response plans and cybersecurity simulation exercises), and coordinating response to highly sensitive cybersecurity incidents and personal data breaches.
- one of the world’s largest technology companies on their strategic commercial agreements and partnerships with their key clients, and on regulatory developments in the region.
- Vantage Data Centers on its acquisition of two in-development data centres in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Professional experience
Prior to working in the technology sector, Jia-Yi worked on several large-scale renewable energy projects (with a focus on offshore wind farms in the United Kingdom).
She also has prior experience working in several tech-related start-ups and as a consultant for the Government Technology Agency of Singapore (GovTech), the digital technology arm of the Singapore government.
Education and qualifications
Jia-Yi studied law at the University of Warwick and graduated in 2010.
