Linklaters advises Actis on its acquisition of a majority stake in Levanta Renewables, a Southeast Asia renewables platform

Linklaters advised Actis, a leading global investor in sustainable infrastructure, on the acquisition of a majority stake in Levanta Renewables (Levanta), a Southeast Asia-focused renewables platform with 300MW of onshore wind power projects in advanced development in Vietnam.

As Actis’ first energy infrastructure investment in Vietnam, the acquisition will enable Actis to build on Levanta’s pipeline in advanced development to scale the business into a 1.5GW renewable platform, delivering power to a range of offtakers, including commercial and industrial customers, across Southeast Asia.

The acquisition will be made through Actis’ Energy Fund 5, which represents US$6bn of investable capital targeting the acceleration of energy transition globally.

The cross-practice Linklaters team was led by Singapore-based corporate partner Robert Elliot and energy & infrastructure partner Ying Fu, supported by Laure de Panafieu, Linklaters’ regional head of employment & incentives, and Hong Kong-based corporate partner Alex Bidlake.

Linklaters worked with Hanoi-based partner Giles Cooper, at Allens, the firm’s alliance partner in Australia and Vietnam, on the Vietnamese law aspects of the transaction.

Linklaters’ corporate partner Robert Elliot, commented:

“We are grateful for the trust and confidence Actis placed in us on this significant investment in the renewable energy market in Southeast Asia. This milestone transaction not only demonstrates Linklaters’ strength in executing M&A deals in the energy and infrastructure sector across the region, but also our commitment to helping our clients support regional energy transition. Our pan-Asian team looks forward to continuing to support Actis on other strategic opportunities contributing to the development of renewable energy assets across Asia.
