Linklaters expands Making Links Scholarship programme across Europe
Following the success of Linklaters’ Making Links Scholarship pilot programme – supporting underrepresented university students in the UK – the firm has expanded the programme across Europe.
The Making Links Scholarship programme is designed specifically to help talented university students from underrepresented groups succeed in their early careers by supporting the development of technical and professional skills whilst building strong commercial fluency and a global outlook.
Following the launch of the UK pilot in May 2019, the European Making Links Scholarship programme will be offered in Linklaters’ offices in Amsterdam, Brussels, Lisbon, Luxembourg, Milan, Paris and Stockholm.
As a Making Links Scholar, students will receive:
- Personal professional coaching sessions;
- Sessions on commercial awareness and personal skills development;
- A one-to-three-month internship during the summer of 2022 in a local Linklaters office;
- €3,000 in financial support;
- The opportunity to connect with other European lawyers and students; and
- Access to Linklaters’ leading legal experts and exclusive access to the firm’s events and local office activities throughout the programme.

Paloma Fierro, Global Diversity & Inclusion Partner at Linklaters, comments:
“We are delighted to be expanding the reach and impact of the Making Links Scholarship programme across Europe. The Programme offers support that historically many individuals entering the legal profession might naturally have had access to through family, school, or other networks. To ensure that the legal sector is truly representative and inclusive we need to level the playing field and make sure that there is equal access to opportunity.”
The Scholarship is part of Linklaters’ Making Links initiative, which launched in December 2018, and brings together the range of programmes the firm has in place globally focussed on attracting, recruiting and developing talent from underrepresented backgrounds. Linklaters has a longstanding commitment to ensuring that personal background, social identity and socio-economic circumstances are not barriers to success – find out more about the firm’s Diversity and Inclusion strategy.
