Overview

Joanna brings over 20 years experience in the project development, operations, and acquisition and disposal of all aspects of the energy value chain. This includes both conventional oil, gas and power as well as energy transition projects including LNG, CCUS, low carbon and sustainable aviation fuel projects, and bio mass projects. In addition to working in London, she has considerable experience advising clients in the Middle East.

Work highlights
  • Acting in respect of a novel and material asset CCUS opportunity, including developing and implementing the legal and wider project strategy, engaging and integrating industry (including considering customer needs) to help influence and develop fit for purpose carbon regulatory frameworks, and advising on project risk and opportunities; 
  • Advising in respect of a proposed joint venture to produce carbon nanotubes from carbon in order to produce tyres;
  • Advising on the ongoing operations of the SMDS GTL plant, including in respect of its refinancing and proposed bio mass project (biomass to liquids using GTL technology);
  • Advising on the ongoing operations of the Pearl Qatar Gas to Liquids project, including decommissioning and restoration matters, debottlenecking strategies, common facilities documentation, trade control and regulatory compliance; and competition law queries;
  • Acting for the winning bids for the North Field Expansion East and North Field Expansion South LNG Projects in Qatar; and further overseeing implementation and operationalisation of the joint ventures;
  • Advising on the establishment of a wholly government owned energy company, formed to be the sole exporter of commodity petroleum products, including evaluating methods to operate a new marketing company, and developing the business model and the offtake requirements.
