Overview
Michael Deane is an English solicitor based in our Frankfurt office. He has specialised experience in advising corporates and financial institutions on a wide range of international capital markets transactions, with a particular focus on OTC derivatives (covering all asset classes), structured finance and corporate bonds (including convertible, exchangeable and hybrid bonds).
Work highlights
Michael's experience includes:
- Various financial institutions and companies: advising on OTC financial derivatives transactions on the basis of the ISDA Master Agreement and German Master Agreement for Financial Derivatives Transactions (DRV) (in particular interest, currency, equity and credit derivatives).
- Deutsche Bank: advising on the sale and transfer of its equity derivatives business.
- Commerzbank: advising on the sale of its Equity Markets and Commodities (EMC) business to Société Générale.
- QIAGEN: advising on the issuance of US$500m net share settled Convertible Bonds.
- Allianz: advising the Bookrunners on the concurrent issuance of US$1.25bn and €1.25bn Resettable Restricted Tier 1 Bonds.
- Akelius Residential Property: advising on the issuance of €500m Subordinated Bonds.
- Barry Callebaut: advising on its debut placement of Schuldschein loans, in the volume of €600m.
Professional experience
Michael Deane joined Linklaters in 2018.
Prior to joining the firm, he worked at the Financial Conduct Authority and an international law firm in London.
Education and qualifications
Michael Deane studied Law with American Law at the University of Nottingham and the University of Connecticut.
He speaks English and German.
