Overview

Urs has specialised experience in all fields of national and international finance with focus on syndicated lending, acquisition finance, Schuldschein loans, Sustainability linked loans and financing in the context of spinoff and other corporate reorganisations.

He is member of the firms’ ESG Practise.

He has been ranked as Best Lawyer in the area of Banking and Finance law by Handelsblatt for several years.

Work highlights

Transactions of significance where substantial involvement can be disclosed have included:

  • Bayer AG: advising on a syndicated credit facility in the amount of €5bn.
  • Bertelsmann: advising on a syndicated credit facility in the amount of €1.5bn.
  • Deutsche Börse: advising on a credit facility to finance the intended €3.9bn takeover of the Danish software company SimCorp.
  • Forvia: advising on the issuance ESG-linked Schuldschein loans and on an exchange offer in relation to existing Schuldschein loans.
  • Heraeus: advising on the refinancing of its existing €400m revolving facility agreement by a syndicated facility agreement with the same amount.
  • Salzgitter: advising on two new syndicated green export credit facilities totalling approx. €500m.
  • Uniper: advising on sustainability linked syndicated credit facilities in an aggregate amount of €3bn.

Professional experience

Urs is working as a lawyer since 2008. He works with Linklaters since 2018 as Counsel.

Education and qualifications

Urs studied law at the Friedrich-Alexander-University in Erlangen-Nürnberg and Rheinischen Friedrich-Wilhelms-University in Bonn. He earned his doctorate at the Heinrich Heine University in Düsseldorf.

 

He speaks German and English.
