Linklaters advises BSTOR on the financing of its milestone transaction to significantly expand its battery energy storage operations in Belgium
A team led by Charles-Antoine Leunen and Laurens Cools advised BSTOR on the external financing of a 50MW/140MWh greenfield battery energy storage system (BESS) project located at the site of Duferco Wallonie in La Louvière. Other key lawyers working on the transaction were Kélian Rask and Coralie Mencik.
The facility is developed in close collaboration with Duferco Wallonie. The financing was arranged by a consortium comprised of KBC Bank, Belfius Bank and Triodos Bank.
The D-STOR project is a strategic milestone in enhancing Belgium's energy storage capacity aiming to address the pressing need for sustainable electricity grid balancing solutions. The project is part of the first generation of BESS projects reaching financial close in Belgium.
