Linklaters advised Gulf Energy Development Public Company Limited (GULF) on its strategic amalgamation with Intouch Holdings Public Company Limited (INTUCH). This merger aims to restructure related companies within the group to maximise benefits for future operations and investments, including simplifying their shareholding structure and cultivate new growth opportunities in the energy & infrastructure and digital landscape.
GULF is Thailand’s prominent leader in the energy sector that invests in a portfolio of conventional and renewable power generation and distribution businesses, as well as natural gas supply and distribution, infrastructure development projects, and digital business. INTUCH is the largest major shareholder of Advanced Info Service Public Company Limited (ADVANC), the largest mobile phone operator in Thailand, and Thaicom Public Company Limited (THCOM), Thailand's satellite operator.
This amalgamation, subject to securing shareholder approval in October 2024, involves five listed entities on the Stock Exchange of Thailand and the Singapore Exchange – GULF, INTUCH, ADVANC, THCOM, and Singtel– marking one of the largest transactions on the Stock Exchange of Thailand.
