Overview
Reza is a partner in the Structured Finance Group who has worked for over 14 years at Linklaters in London, Paris and Tokyo.
Reza is relationship Partner for a number of UK and European regulated utilities and infrastructure companies, including Southern Water (since 2003), Anglian Water (since 2005), Greene King (since 2008), Peel Ports (since 2012), Manchester Airports Group (since 2013) and Phoenix Natural Gas (since 2013).
Work highlights
Reza has worked on some of the most complex and innovative transactions, including advising:
- Greene King on its £340m secured corporate bond issuance, which was the first new-money investment grade rated secured corporate bond undertaken by a UK public company since the financial crisis
- Punch Taverns on its £2.3bn debt restructuring across two securitisation including a debt-for-equity swap, a rights issue, retranching and sizing of existing debt and full Association of British Insurers consent process, which was described by Debtwire as “the most complicated UK corporate debt restructuring ever” (Debtwire Restructuring Review, 10 October 2014)
- Southern Water on the sale of its non-household retail business
- The lenders to Arqiva on the establishment of its Smart Metering Communications Hub financing platform, which was the winner of the most innovative structured finance deal at the 2014 FT Innovative Lawyers Award
- Cerberus on the acquisition of a £13bn portfolio of mortgage loans and other loan assets from UK Asset Resolution and of NRAM plc, the former Northern Rock mortgage business
- Crédit Agricole Corporate and Investment Bank as the arranger of the Avis €1.4bn pan-European rental vehicle fleet securitisation platform
Professional experience
Reza is a regular speaker at the Global ABS Conference, where he has spoken on a variety of industry topics, including ‘The European Private Placement Market’. He will be moderating at this year’s conference on ‘Whole Business and Corporate Finance’.
Education and qualifications
Reza studied Law with French Law at St. John’s College, University of Oxford and at Université Paris II (Panthéon-Assas).
