Overview

Roberta has over a decade of experience and specialises in complex cross-border restructurings, enforcements and insolvencies. She advises clients, including secured and unsecured creditors, debtors, insolvency practitioners and other stakeholders across the spectrum of financial restructurings, insolvencies and special situations in Asia.

She was seconded to the distressed asset legal team of Standard Chartered Bank in 2018.

  • Coordination committee of lenders on a number of holistic restructurings involving Chinese real estate developers.*
  • Ad hoc group of perpetual noteholders on the financial restructuring of an airline company based in Hong Kong by way of a parallel Hong Kong scheme of arrangement and English restructuring plan.*
  • A group of Chinese banks on the restructuring of a leading offshore drilling company by way of a US Chapter 11 plan.*
  • A syndicate of banks on the restructuring of the senior facilities extended to a SZSE-listed mining company secured by assets in Australia, Chile, England and the PRC.*
  • Receivers on the successful sale of an operating hotel in Hong Kong, which resulted in a full repayment of the debt owed to the appointing creditor.*
  • Mezzanine creditors on managing their exposure under a facility extended to the subsidiaries of a Hong Kong-listed company holding a grade A1 office building in Hong Kong.*

Education and qualifications

Roberta studied law at Newnham College, University of Cambridge and subsequently received her Postgraduate Certificate in Laws from the University of Hong Kong. 

She is fluent in English, Cantonese and Mandarin.
