Overview
Sebastian is specialised experience in advising domestic and foreign corporations on their (cross-border) M&A transactions and the corresponding pre- and post-merger measures as well as other general corporate matters.
Work Highlights
Transactions of significance where substantial involvement can be disclosed have included:
- Fresenius: on the acquisition of a majority stake (55%) in mAbxience, a leading supplier of biotechnologically produced generic medicines (biosimilars).
- Aperam: on the acquisition of ELG Haniel, a company active in the trading, processing and recycling of raw materials for the stainless steel industry and high-performance materials such as superalloys, titanium and carbon fibres.
- Covestro: on the acquisition of the Resins & Functional Materials business from Dutch Royal DSM.
- Mediahuis Group: on the acquisition of all shares in Aachener Verlagsgesellschaft mbH (AVG), and thereby a majority shareholding in Medienhaus Aachen GmbH, including the resulting joint venture with the existing minority shareholder of Medienhaus Aachen GmbH.
- STADA: on various strategic multi-national acquisitions of OTC brands.
- UBS: on the carve-out and cross-border transfer of its Spanish wealth management business to Singular Bank.
- Suzlon Energy Limited: on the sale of its German subsidiary Senvion SE to the US investment fund Centerbridge Partners
- LIXL: on its €3.059bn acquisition (together with Development Bank of Japan) of 87.5% of German-based Grohe Group from TPG Capital and Credit Suisse Private Equity.

Sebastian Klingen studied law at the University of Bielefeld. He also completed an Executive MBA in M&A at the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster.
