Overview
Yves is generally acknowledged as one of Belgium’s leading real estate practitioners, and leads the real estate practice in the firm’s Brussels office. He has extensive experience in real estate investments and divestments, as well in all related areas such as public procurement, financing, taxation, construction, M&A, notarial law, projects, leases, leasings (financial and/or VAT) and structuring of projects and joint ventures.
Yves advises on both real estate (sale, long-term lease, leasing, split-structure) and corporate real estate transactions and on M&A transactions that are not real estate-based.
Work highlights
- John Cockerill: advising on establishing a joint venture named Rely with Technip Energies to offer integrated green hydrogen solutions.
- Coeur de Ville, a Thomas & Piron subsidiary: advising on the sale of Asty-Moulin Properties to ION Residential Platform and negotiated a construction contract for a new residential project in Namur with Thomas & Piron Bâtiment.
- Vicinity: advising on acquiring a portfolio of apartments in the Paradis Express Project, a revitalizing development featuring 115 flats, commercial spaces, and social amenities in Liège's Guillemins district, aligning with Vicinity's focus on affordable, sustainable housing in Belgium since 2020.
- Cityforward: advising on the obtaining of 21 long-term leases on the portfolio of buildings to be redeveloped acquired by SFPIM from the European Union.
- AG Insurance: advising on the €100m sale of its entire stake in AG RE Office Invest II SA, the owner of the "City Center Offices" building in Brussels.
- Cores Development and Ravago: advising on their joint acquisition of a 50% stake in Square 42 from Atenor, involving a project in Luxembourg's Belval area, with the Belgium and Luxembourg teams conducting due diligence and drafting the necessary share purchase, shareholders, and project management agreements.

Yves studied law at the University of Liège (ULiège) and holds a licence in notarial law from the Catholic University of Leuven (KULeuven) and a master’s in international law from Queens' College, University of Cambridge.
He speaks English and French.
