Overview
Luke has been part of the Linklaters teams advising on contentious aspects of some of the largest, most complex and high-profile insolvencies of recent years. He also has particular interests in banking, finance and general commercial litigation.
In 2018, Luke spent six months on secondment to the dispute resolution team at one of the largest global energy companies. In 2021, Luke spent five months working as a judicial assistant in the Chancery Division of the High Court, assisting on a broad range of cases, including a number of high-profile and precedent-setting insolvency cases.
Luke has also advised clients in a variety of banking and financial litigation matters, and in general commercial litigation and arbitration matters.

Luke’s recent matters include:
- Acting for the administrators of Lehman Brothers International (Europe) (in administration) on numerous complex and contentious issues.
- Acting for the special administrators of Bulb Energy Ltd (in energy supply company administration) in the first ever energy supply company administration under the Energy Act.
- Acting for the special administrators of Beaufort Asset Clearing Services Limited (in special administration) on one of the largest investment bank special administrations to date, and for the administrators of its group company, Beaufort Securities Limited.
- Acting for the special administrators of a UK investment bank on its investment bank special administration arising from the insolvency of its German parent company.
Education and qualifications
Luke was educated at state schools in his home town of Stockton-on-Tees in the north-east of England. He graduated with first-class honours in History from University College London, as part of which he studied for a year at the University of Pennsylvania. He holds an M.A. (distinction) in Intellectual History and the History of Political Thought from University College London / Queen Mary, University of London. Prior to joining Linklaters, Luke achieved distinctions in the Graduate Diploma in Law and the Legal Practice Course at the University of Law.
